Campaigns

The departure of Mitt Romney is a disappointment because conservatives lost their opportunity to support someone who did understand their concerns. The conservative camp has three groups: those who focus on social issues, those who focus on the economy and those who are international policies-driven. None of these candidates satisfies all three. McCain does well on the foreign policy front and fighting terrorism, but lags on social and economic concerns. Huckabee only appeals to social conservatives. His economic and foreign policy positions are a disaster. Unfortunately, conservatives will have to compromise unless they want to face the prospect of 4 years of a Clinton/Obama administration that puts victimization and special interests at the front. At least the country would quickly regret making that choice and these lousy Democrats would be ousted after one terrible term. But the harm they do would last beyond that.
