Bhutto's Murder
The murder of Ms. Bhutto is a disaster. Regardless of any flaws she may have had, there is no question she was the best hope for a reasonably stable democracy in Pakistan. The nuts in that part of the world have killed that hope. Listen to the inane reactions of our presidential hopefuls. Obama illogically links her murder to Hillary's voting for the Iraq war! Loony Ron Paul says we should pack up and leave all parts of the world. Yes, that's a good idea. Hide our head in the sand and hope the religious nuts leave us alone. The rest are little better. We need constant vigilance and a take-no-prisoners approach to terrorists.

Iran Report
The latest intelligence report regarding the nuclear program in Iran is just what the Left wanted: a so-called vindication that the Bush adminstration's warnings about Iran are unfounded. The problem is that report is complete garbage. Not only does it issue from the anti-Bush C.I.A. which has resisted the administration's stance against terrorism for years, but it is based completely on accepting Iran's word. If anyone actually reads the report, he will conclude that there is absolutely NO proof anywhere. The report readily admits that it doesn't know whether Iran , which it says stopped its nuclear weapons development in 2003, has restarted it. All it can surmise is that we don't know. Well, there's certainty for you!
Also, the report acknowledges that Iran continues to enrich uranium but says it is so doing for non-military purposes. On what does the report base this conclusion? Iran's own word! These absurdities are so obvious, one may ask how the Lefites can take this trash seriously. But then the answer is obvious. They hate Bush, they hate anything he says or does and are willing to believe even Iran rather than accept his word. Just look how long it took the New York Times and some of the loony Democrats to admit the surge in Irag actually was working. They continue to suffer from the old disease of the Left: don't-bother-me-with-the-facts. I-already-know-what-I-think.

Al Gore and the Nobel Bomb
It is fitting that the Nobel Peace prize is named for a munitions manufacturer. The irony of that makes sense when you consider how biased the selection committee is when choosing its awardees. This is the same group who gave the peace prize to Yasir Arafat, a terrorist. I don't want to hear the old crap about one man's terrorist being another man's freedom fighter. Arafat was a murderer, pure and simple. Now for Gore the Gorger. He is a propagandist, and his so-called cause (global warming) is the darling celebe of the loony left. I won't debate here the highly questionable "facts" he spews. I will say the prize committee has once again demonstrated it has only one agenda, reward all leftist causes, no matter how spurious they are. And reward frauds.
One more comment: the award in literature to Doris Lessing fits in well with this mindset. An old communist, feminist and now second-rate author is celebrated.Does anyone really care about these awards? I hope not. They are meaningless.

New York Mets
Ordinarily I would find some small pleasure in watching (metphorically) the Mets demise this season. I no longer follow the game as I once did, or I should say, I followed the San Francisco Giants religiously. I have spent many, many times in that sewer of a place called Shea Stadium, unquestionably the most disgusting ballpark I have ever been to and I have been to most of them in the National League. The fans are also the rudest I have ever encountered. However, two very close friends from NYC are loyal Mets followers and for them, I feel a bit sad. Still, I now learn that Keith Olbermann, the blowhard liberal from MSNBC that the Left loves so much is a Mets fan so I am back to being quite happy his team collapsed. He is such an obnoxious clod. Sorry Phyllis and Jimmy, but I despise Olbermann.

Jena Redux
The sorry affair in Jena demonstrates once more just how warped our society remains. Here several black kids brutally assault a white kid and are charged with a crime. The community is outraged because the charge is excessive, so the charge is reduced and the subsequent conviction overtuned. Some dopey white people hang SYMBOLIC nooses on a tree and suddenly we have the old South and the Klan and the slave trade back with us. Or so it would seem if you listen to the likes of Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and the looney left media. Of course, the nooses were immediately removed, the tree cut down and those responsible charged. So the system does work, right? Oh no, we must not only forget about the assault, make these kids who beat the white kid into civil rights heroes, drag the most guilty one's deadbeat dad, who deserted him years ago, out of hiding and reinstigate the 60s civil rights movement. In the eyes of the liberal loons, beating a kid unconscious is equivalent to a stupid prank. Why? Because the liberals have always been about symbolic gestures, not about reality.

She Doesn't Care (and neither do I)
Here is a terrific piece from a New Jersey woman:
"Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001?
Were people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan, across the Potomac from our nation's capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania?
Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die in a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn't they?
And I'm supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was 'desecrated' when an overworked American soldier kicked it or got it wet? Well, I don't. I don't care at
all.
I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.
I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, of which the mere possession is a crime in Saudi Arabia.
I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking off Nick Berg's head.
I'll care when the cowardly so-called 'insurgents' in Iraq come out and fight like men, instead of hiding in mosques and disrespecting their own religion.
I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of paradise care about the innocent children they take with them.
I'll care when the American media stops pretending that their First Amendment liberties are somehow derived from international law instead of the United States Constitution's Bill of Rights.
In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave marine roughing up an Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don't care.
When I see a fuzzy photo of a pile of naked Iraqi prisoners who have been humiliated in what amounts to a college-hazing incident, rest assured: I don't care.
When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank: I don't care.
When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and fed 'special' food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being 'mishandled', I don't care."
"Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But the Marines don't have that problem"-Ronald Reagan
"If we ever forget that we are one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under."-Ronald Reagan
In case we find ourselves starting to believe all the anti-American sentiment and negativity, we should remember Britain's prime minister Tony Blair's words. When asked by a member of parliament why he believed so much in America, he replied, "A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in and how many want out."
Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you:
1. Jesus Christ
2. The American G.I.
One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.
I add: AMEN.

Bib Laden is back
So the old rat came out of his hole to offer another rant. Nice to see that he has discovered hair dye. That black beard is supposed to give confidence to his loony followers that he still is viable. His organization is in shambles, being beaten down successfully by the American forces in Iraq as well as the Sunnis who have learned he isn't worth dying for (though you'd never know that by listening to the surrender-first Democrats or the biased media in bed with them. I also guess he has access to Netflix because he rambled incohrently about the Kennedy assassination like something out of an Oliver Stone film.

Democrats Obsession
The unfortunate mess over the Alberto Gonzales affair once again illustrates just how abnormally obsessed the Democrats are with President Bush. The firing of the US attorneys was entirely legal and above-board. There has been no allegation of anything illegal about it; yet, if one listens to the hateful Shumer or Hillary, one would think the Constitution is under attack. Gonzales was too weak and too docile to stand up to these hate-mongers. It is a sad reflection, particularly for New York which is run by the despicable likes of the bully Spitzer, the hateful Shumer and the Queen bitch, Hillary.

The Dopey Democrats
Ask yourself this question: Which of the Democrat candidates for president makes you feel safe? Do you see that bozo Kucinich protecting you? Can you imagine him standing up to terrorists? What about the rest of them? I don't think so. The liberals always think you can negotiate with loonies who live in the middle ages and chop off heads for the hell of it. Of course, while these acts are condemned, we are also told how we must understand the frustration these people have to endure, how sorrowful their lives are, and the rest of that crap. Funny how Europeans managed to survive years of hardship without resorting to this lunacy. God help us all stay safe if one of these blathering boobs gets to be president.

Musings on Education
With school openings a month away, I have been thinking once again about what we as educators face. It is no secret that academia has for decades been co-opted by a liberal/leftest cabal. It remains the only place where bankrupt ideologies such as socialism and communism are still treated as both viable and preferred. I am struck by how many in this profession view themselves as the last bulwarks against what they see as the reactionary, fascist policies of capitalism and Republicanism. With a zeal akin to a religious fervor (a real irony there, given their hatred of religion), they decry the "assaults" against their ivory towers from the so-called christian right, pro-life advocates, etc.
As far as hiring new teachers goes, mastery of one's field is no longer a concern. What really matters to them is whether the prospective educator understands the "sensitivity" that must dominate their actions. A pseudo-therapeutic approach is necessary. Students must never be told they made a mistake or are simply incorrect. Oh no, they must be told they are good people, to be rewarded for trying. Not only has this garbage contributed to the decline in overall performance of American students, it has created a generation or two steeped in a culture of victimization. Education is no longer about acquiring skills and knowledge; it is about validation. This is why we place emphasis on worthless teaching degrees rather than subject-driven degrees when hiring teachers. The lack of subject knowledge on the part of so many educators is disgraceful. Our schools continue to be a joke.

Harry Reid's Rantings
Harry Reid, Senator (Democrat) from Nevada, and majority leader, claimed on Wednesday that the American public knows that George W. Bush is the worst president we have ever had. This assumption is based on the latest poll showing Bush having one of the lowest approval ratings ever. Well, if that is the guage, then I must conclude that Sen. Reid is the worst senator we have ever had, since his rating is below the president's!
This Democrat-controlled congress has been in power for 200 days and has accomplished nothing. All they can manage are a series of useless hearings, all designed to make their loony left fringe fans happy, none of which produces anything.
Reid is a disgrace.

Recent Supreme Court Decision
The most recent 5-4 decision from the Supreme Court striking down so-called voluntary desegregation plans for public schools is a welcome one. Of course, the predictable left bemoans the end of Brown as well as a return to racist schools in America. They never get it. Racism is ok as long as whites are targeted. They have no evidence that forced percentage-building of so-called diversity programs work. What works are better schools, ones with demanding and qualified teachers and parents who actually care about their children's schoolwork. I have seen how inner-city schools, ones whose populations are completely minority, fail. It has nothing to do with not having white students present but everything to do with having low standards and a total lack of concern for education from the community. Let's bring discipline back and we will have better schools.

Moore's at it again!
That bloviating bag of blubber Michael Moore has once more put out a film full of gross inaccuracies, this time about health care. The biased mainstream media, as usual, has fallen all over itself in praising it, following closely on the heels of the utterly predictable award for the film at Cannes. One knows the french never pass up an opportunity to praise anything that attacks the United States. The french have little else, since they are merely passe now, their culture and their position in the world meaningless.
Moore's rant proposes that America adopt the Canadian or , heavens, the Cuban health systems as models! One would have to agree, if one favored waiting lists of a minimum of 8 weeks for any surgical procedure. Elective surgery waits can take as long as three or more years. Many towns in Britain have no dentist. Anyone who can has private health insurance. Doctors are refusing to join the NHS in increasing numbers, preferring private practice. Hospitals are closing in greater numbers. In Cuba, there is no oversight of the system and doctors use untested drugs as well as theories to "treat" patients. Of course, we all know how wonderful life in Cuba is. Just ask the hundreds who risk their lives floating on cardboard to get out.

Politics
Nevada Senator Harry Reid has a favorable poll rating of just 19%, considerably lower than that of President Bush. The Congress as a whole is rated about the same as the president. Yet all we seem to hear from the media is how the president's low poll rating makes it difficult for him to do anything. That is not surprising, given the long-standing hatred the mainstream media has for the president. I wonder, though, how the low approval ratings will play out for the Democrats who expect (as does the media) to overtake everything in the next election. Could it be that the public sees the left/liberal debacle for what it really is? Failed policies, cut and run, rampant illegal immigration, bloated lies. Let's hope so.

Don Imus
Well, the political correctness police have struck again. I am sure Imus will emerge again, and I am also sure his philanthropic efforts will continue to improve the lives of so many children. I am also sure that Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and all their ilk will also continue to scam the stupid people who fall for their bilge.

Don Imus
While I am not a fan of Don Imus, I must comment on this latest mess. While Imus's comments regarding the Rutgers' women's basketball team are in poor taste, they were meant humorously. So many found them unfunny. Fine. But to have those clowns, Al Sharpton, who has the credibility of a drop of spit and Jesse Jackson, the world's greatest phony (remember "hymietown?) call for his resignation or dismissal is ridiculous. Imus's greatest crime, as Trent Lott and others have found, is that in this politically correct society, certain groups are beyond comment.
I am still waiting for either of those two so-called spokesmen come forth to condemn the garbage that passes for music called hip-hop. Not likely.

Letterman's tired routines
Has anyone else grown weary of David Letterman's jabs at President Bush? When he pokes fun at Al Gore or Bill Clinton, it is about weight or some other physical flaw. But because he hates Bush so much, he just can't seem to get away from harping on his dissatisfaction. When he has his unfunny buddy Al Franken, a real dope, on the program, it is a lovefest. When he had disgraced Dan Rather on a few weeks back, it was one long harangue against Bush. Even when Rather told him that, yes, Dave, contrary to your blindness, there was concrete evidence that Iran was behind much of the violence in Iraq, he dropped that one so fast the screen blurred. He should go away.

Much ado about Nothing
The "outrage" by the Democrats over the firing of the eight attorneys in the Justice Department is further proof of their obsession with bringing down the Bush administration. It was expected, of course. They promised a gaggle of hearings once they got back into power and that's what they delivered. The firings were perfectly legal. These were indeed Bush appointees and they serve at the pleasure of the president. All presidents fire attorneys. The Left's idol, the sleazy glibmaster Clinton, fired everyone in the Justice Department. But this is really about getting Karl Rove. Attorney General Gonzales bungled the notification of it but the act was not illegal. Everyone knows it but the truth has never mattered when it comes to the Democrats. On and on it goes.
By the way, Al Gore's appearance before the Senate to rant about global warming was entertaining. My hasn't he put on weight! He looks ready for the WWE. Perhaps he can call himself Gore the Gorger.

Scooter Libby
The guilty verdict for Scooter Libby is ridiculous. Prosecuter Fitzgerald knows who leaked Plame's name, Richard Armitage. Libby was dumb to lie about it, but since there was no law broken (no criminal charges regarding the leak have been filed), this case should have been dismissed. Plame, by all accounts, was not in need of secrecy regarding her classification. The entire mess is about Joe Wilson, her unqualified husband getting a job he did not deserve and botching it. They are simple Bush-haters. That is what this is all about.

Academy Awards
Martin Scorsese finally got the Oscar he coveted. He certainly was worthy of several Oscars, so this was a kind of Lifetime Achievement award in disguise. The Departed is a good film, certainly not a very good film, nor is it even his top quality work, too long, a needless bloodbath ending. Besides, why do we need a remake of a film (a better one at that) that is only two years old?
The award to The Lives of Others, the German film, was outstanding, well-deserved and a pleasant surprise. Sometimes (rarely) the Academy gets it right. Of course, the highlight was the tribute to Maestro Ennio Morricone. Talk about someone being cheated out of an Oscar! This is film's greatest composer, hands down!
One final note: That stiff, Al Gore, got his Oscar (big surprise there). And Melissa Etheridge got one for that stupid song from that boring claptrap as well. Let me see, Hollywood gives an award to a lesbian singer from a left-wing film, what a shock!

U.S. Senate Resolution
Once again the Democrats in the senate are fashioning a resolution that would redefine the Constitution. The president, as commander-in-chief, has the authority to designate what the military mission is once the Congress authorizes military action. Now the senate wants to usurp that power and give themselves the authority to determine what the military can and can not do in the sphere of action. The sheer gall of this Democrat party is reprehensible. This country needs to wake up and restore power to those who know what to do with it. The nation is heading for dangerous times, if not already on the cusp.

Musings
I saw Charlie Rose's interview with David Mamet which only confirmed my belief that Mamet is America's best living author. His insights, humor and straight-forwardness are indeed refreshing. And it was good to hear someone tell the truth about Jimmy Carter, a disgraceful man. Bravo Mr. Mamet!

Iraq Debate
The House debate on the president's call for an increase in troops to secure Baghdad is further evidence of just how bankrupt the Congress has become. In order to declare their dissatisfaction with the president's policy, the Democrats and their "move on" Republican cronies are bloviating on how terrible this all is. At the same time, they want to make clear they do support the troops. Pardon me while I strap on my "bullshit-proof" boots to wade through this garbage. Imagine being a soldier stationed in Iraq. How comforting is it to know your representatives back home support you even though they think you are engaged in a worthless endeavor? Boy, wouldn't that make them feel loved and appreciated. The Democrats and their ilk are revolting!

State of the Union
President Bush delivered the State of the Union address last night and the response was predictable. Loyal Republicans gave him high marks, those scared of not being re-elected offered criticism, sometimes muted, sometimes not. And the Democrats found only the introductions of the "heroes" worthy of applause. Of course, they were pleased to hear the president mention one of their favorities, global warming. They love anything that will retard economic progress so they can find more excuses to raise taxes for boondoggle programs. The bigger the government, the better the government, that has always been their slogan since the days of FDR. I am afraid Bush, as a lame duck, is at their mercy. Perhaps he will now use the veto as he should have done so many times before. I doubt it, though. Bleak times ahead.
